The stars of Carousel of Hope are Kory and Selena, both Miniature Horses who travel via a 'mini' van to schools, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and various community events in greater Flint and surrounding areas.
Selena was born on Jan 21, 2022. I first meet her when she was a month old. There was something about her sweet, shy, yet inquisitive personality that kept drawing me to her.
Selena is very smart, and pays close attention to details when we are training to do new things. She loves to take a step up onto things for attention and a better view, especially the manure cart when it is full! Selena has the most beautiful, soft brown eyes that she uses to draw you in for attention and more importantly, treats.
Selena is not a fan of having her face touched, but she is always up for a good butt scratch!
Her favorite extra special treat is a soft peppermint candy or black licorice (or black jelly beans).
Kory was born on August 13, 2021. I first met Kory when he was 6 months old. He stole my heart with his snuggles and his love for back scratches with the pitch fork. To this day, he loves to have all attention on him so he can receive all the snuggles and scratches. He will settle for scratches just about anywhere on his body!
Kory is all boy and is by far the most likely to be the shenanigans instigator.
His favorite trick is to get the stall door open when I haven’t completely latched it so he can let himself out, and often Selena as well, to the self serve hay pile or greener grass on the other side of the barn.
Kory’s most favorite extra special treat is a soft peppermint candy, but he will also very happily settle for black licorice or black jellybeans. His favorite summer time treat is watermelon. Apples and carrots are a close second.
Learning how to do the stairs and the elevator!
We are always learning new and exciting things!
